About Us

The James River Navy was established to join like-minded individuals within the Commonwealth of Virginia who embody the Virginian spirit of volunteerism, service, civic duty, and local amity.

Members of the James River Navy are commissioned as Admirals of the James River Navy and are empowered to serve as Goodwill Ambassadors for the Commonwealth of Virginia and the City of Richmond who shall, through deeds and actions, continue to honor both themselves and the Commonwealth.

The James River Navy is home to persons from all walks of life who carry within them a fondness for community service and civic duty. All are welcome within the ranks of the JRN, and I invite you to follow the JRN’s email list where information regarding good works projects and our annual muster in Richmond will be shared.

Yours in service,

Admiral E. Motley

Chief, Board of Admiralty
